HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a Assistant Superintendent for their company based out of Guild, Tennessee.
This position requires you to be on-site daily. The hours will vary — around 55 hours a week.
There will be relocation assistance for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
1.) Safety & Regulatory Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Ensure company compliance with all USCG, OSHA, and MSHA regulations, including vessel inspections, certifications, and crew licensing requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce safety policies and procedures for shipyard operations and vessel crews.
- Conduct regular safety audits, drills, and training for shore-side staff and vessel crews.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (USCG, OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
- Maintain documentation and logs related to safety incidents, compliance checks, and regulatory filings
2.) Shore-Side Staff & Crew Management
- Provide administrative support to the management team and vessel crews, including scheduling, payroll coordination, and HR tasks.
- Act as the point of contact for crew members regarding operational issues and shore-side needs.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding new crew members as needed.
3.) Operations Support
- Monitor vessel operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies.
- Coordinate logistics for vessel movements, fueling, and provisioning.
- Support emergency response planning and execution in case of incidents.
4.) Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of vessel operations, maintenance, and safety activities.
- Prepare reports for management on operational performance, safety incidents, and regulatory updates.
- Ensure proper filing of permits, certifications, and other essential documents.
5.) Communication & Coordination
- Act as a key communication link between the shipyard office, vessel crews, and management team.
- Attend and contribute to management meetings regarding operations, safety, and personnel matters.
Qualifications/Experience:
- OSHA certifications (such as OSHA 30-Hour for General Industry or Shipyard Safety).
- Proficiency with Excel
- Proven experience ensuring compliance with USCG, OSHA, MSHA regulations.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, safety training, and managing compliance documentation
- Knowledge of vessel inspections, certifications, and crew licensing
- Familiarity with vessel operations and safety procedures on the water
- Knowledge of logistics, provisioning, and maintenance of vessels"
