Role Purpose
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the support of the Superintendent and/or Senior Superintendent in accordance with Thomas Construction Group’s standards. This position will assist in the coordination and scheduling of multiple construction teams, help determine construction requirements and ensure that subcontract work meets the required specifications. The Assistant Superintendent will also assist in the inspection of work and equipment to verify safety and ensure project specifications are met while working in a highly collaborative manner with all members of the project team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setting up the job site office, dry storage facilities, required notices, permits, labor department bulletins, TCG special notices, and sanitary facilities including water and electric service.
- Ensure all crews are adhering to Thomas safety policies and procedures.
- Support with managing of the project schedule under the guidance of the site Superintendent and continuously communicating with subcontractors and vendors.
- Assist with submitting Daily Logs, pictures and other necessary documentation in Procore.
- Attend and participate at pre-construction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work; ensure adherence to Thomas standards of workmanship and plan of work.
- Review project progress, cost reports, schedules and requirements for completion.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, or other related field.
- 3-5 years of experience with combined internship, Field Engineer, or Assistant Superintendent role with a previous general contactor.
- Demonstrated understanding of building processes and systems.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor styles to match the audience.
- Must be able to travel.
Physical Requirements/Work Requirements & Environment
- Physical ability to walk site throughout the day, climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to travel 50%+ of the time.
