Our client is a packaging manufacturer with a focus on e-commerce, display, retail and high-end e-commerce packaging including customized point-of-purchase displays and high-end custom-designed corrugated packaging. We are now looking for a General Sales Manager to lead their busy, successful and growing sales team of 20+ Sales Representatives and Sales Manager.


General Sales Manager – Packaging


Houston, TX with frequent travel.

$120,000-$135,000 base DOE – Total compensation approximately $205,000 this includes base + bonus. Expenses paid for entertaining customers/reps and out of town travel expenses.


To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident General Sales Manager, with 5+ years of experience in sales management, and deep experience as a heavy hitter within the packaging industry.

You will act as the owners ‘right hand’ and will be a true leader who can bring structure, planning and efficient processes to the business.


Other requirements for this role include:

  • Proven ability to lead a large sales team to meet quotas
  • Passionate about developing and graduating sales reps and rookies
  • Experience setting sales goals
  • Deep understanding of customer relations and customer service
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently
  • Strong negotiation and relationship development skills
  • Results-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Job role and responsibilities:

As the General Sales Manager, you will recruit, hire, and train sales teams to build and maintain strong customer relations.


Specific requirements for this role include:

  • Understand and implement company culture and selling value to customers
  • Be the collective voice of the sales group to assist where needed to improve
  • Work with sales reps to solve problems and offer solutions to customers
  • Work with suppliers to coordinate sales meetings and lead generation programs
  • Set sales goals, compare performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed
  • Assess current team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop individual quotas and assign territories for team
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasts
  • Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to team members
  • Foster a competitive yet collaborative team environment
  • Assess individual performance and suggest corrective actions as needed
  • Be a leader to the sales group and actively support all company initiatives
