The SQL Server Database Developer / Application Analyst is responsible for developing insightful reports, maintaining and optimizing database systems, and analyzing applications to ensure peak performance and functionality, all while working closely with senior engineers.
Responsibilities:
Database Development:
- Optimize and write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Develop and manage SSRS reports and alerts.
- Oversee the development of inbound and outbound data feeds between internal applications and external third-party cloud platforms.
- Create and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in database development.
Database Administration:
- Upgrade, maintain, and develop SQL Server databases.
- Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies, such as SQL Server Clustering or Always On Availability Groups.
- Conduct regular database maintenance tasks including backups, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot and monitor database performance issues.
- Ensure data integrity and system security across all databases.
Application Analysis:
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions into applications.
- Troubleshoot and provide technical support for application-related issues.
- Act as a technical resource for financial application configurations, enhancements, and upgrades, working alongside third-party vendors.
- Analyze and enhance application performance.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in database development and administration.
- Expertise in SQL Server, including T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
- Experience with Power BI development and data visualization is preferred.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions such as Azure SQL Database.
- Experience with PowerShell, Power Automate, Power Apps, and low-code platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with Web Services, REST, APIs, XML, and JSON is an advantage.
- Law firm application experience, such as Aderant and Intapp, is a plus.
