Akkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in leading large-scale IT projects within the public sector. This role will support a state-level initiative, ensuring efficient project execution and stakeholder satisfaction.

Location: mainly remote, ideal candidates will sit within 100 miles of Sacramento, CA

Key Qualifications:

• State Project Experience: Must have prior experience working with state agencies or divisions, demonstrating familiarity with public sector protocols and processes.

Responsibilities:

Project Integration Management:

• Direct and manage workstream efforts and oversee all project stakeholders and staff.
• Assist in creating or updating project charters, plans, and status reports.
• Collaborate with senior managers to align project goals with required documentation.
• Prepare for upcoming activities, including obtaining stakeholder authorization and analyzing business needs.

Scope and Change Management:

• Validate and control scope through requirement traceability and scope variance reporting.
• Perform integrated change control and configuration management tasks.
• Deliver monthly reports on changes impacting project scope.

Risk and Issue Management:

• Identify and mitigate risks, updating the Risk Register and developing risk response plans.
• Create tools for issue management and resolution.
• Conduct meetings to address impediments and prepare risk mitigation plans.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

• Facilitate weekly status meetings, documenting action items and managing stakeholder communications.
• Use PMBOK tools and Microsoft Teams/SharePoint to share key project information.

Schedule Management:

• Maintain and update project schedules, consolidating inputs from various sources.
• Define activity sequences, manage resource loads, and establish reporting protocols.
• Develop hypothetical scenarios for schedule changes.

Resource and Workload Control:

• Manage daily project work efforts, including resource estimation and task assignments.
• Track and document Project Team hours, reporting on project progress as required.

Budget Change Proposals:

• Draft and revise State Budget Change Proposals (BCP) and supporting documents aligned with departmental and financial protocols.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and update project plans and baseline schedules.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align project documentation with compliance requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of seven (7) years of extensive experience in project management, with at least four (4) years as a Senior Project Manager for large or complex IT projects.
• Possession of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience: four additional years of relevant work can substitute).
• PMP Certification issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
