Job Description

The Sales Analyst III will be responsible for analyzing account data for assigned accounts, offering actionable insights, building and fostering customer relationships, creating merchandising plans, conducting market analysis, developing and maintaining accurate forecasts (including the annual sales budget), ensuring data integrity for POS and forecasts, reporting on business trends, and delivering presentations of these findings to cross-functional teams, management, and customers. Additionally, this role will lead strategic space planning projects, manage recurring customer planning calls, and assist in the development and implementation of new sales team policies and procedures.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Analysis and Reporting

  • Serves as the account expert for assigned accounts within the sales team.
  • Performs account-level analysis for assigned accounts, identifying account needs, trends, opportunities, and problems (i.e., GMROI, in stock, sell through %, ideal product assortments, new item performance).
  • Provides actionable feedback based on results of analysis.
  • Prepares analysis summaries for accounts.
  • Designs and implements analytical reports.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and communicates competitive data trends.
  • Ensures and maintains data integrity for POS and forecasts, enabling accurate reporting and insights.
  • Serves as the project manager for internal cross-functional sales reviews within the assigned territory.
  • Supports cross-functional teams in implementing strategies based on sales analysis and insights.
  • Contributes to the analysis and presentation of findings for internal sales review meetings.
  • Conducts market analysis, post-promotional event analysis, planogram development, and monitoring of progress against established business plans.
  • Participates in the development of pricing/merchandising strategies at the account level.
  • Leads strategic space planning projects.
  • Supports management in strategic initiatives and the implementation of new procedures to continually improve team efficiencies and effectiveness.

Sales Support

  • Maximizes sales opportunities through in-depth account analysis.
  • Collaborates with the Sales team on internal account related projects.
  • Develops presentation-ready analyses for account sales calls.
  • Anticipates account manager needs to provide needed support with minimal direction.

Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Strategic inventory management through the development and maintenance of an accurate sales forecast for the assigned territory throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Analyzes and reports on achieving sales forecast MTD, YTD, and yearend.
  • Evaluates historical sales, seasonality, events/promotions, pricing, and incorporates any demand or inventory changing events/activities into plan.
  • Builds relationships with and collaborates with customers’ planning teams and leads recurring calls.
  • Performs inventory analysis to determine the impact on sales.
  • Manages the sales budget plan for assigned territory, working with account managers and commercial team, including the development of the plan and the performance against plan.
  • Tracks and manages remaining inventory and runout of discontinued items.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field is required
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in Sales, Forecasting or related analytical work experience is required
  • Extensive experience with data & situational analysis
  • Expertise in retailer reporting systems (e.g., Luminate, Retail Link, POL) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Dunnhumby, 84.51, Power BI, and/or Tableau
  • Ability to prepare and analyze sales reports independently
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with ability to be creative & see different perspectives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines and a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work and manage projects independently with minimal guidance
  • Experience working in a retail CPG industry preferred
