Position Summary
The Sommelier is responsible for all wine sales on the floor while serving the guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Sommeliers are passionate about all beverages and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our guests.
Daily Responsibilities
- Actively engaged in the salesmanship of wine and beverages.
- Greet guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Suggestively upsell the best wines for personal tastes and food choices.
- Take the order and accurately put it into POS.
- Marking tables with wine glasses.
- Marking food and drinks at the table when needed.
- Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware.
- Decanting of wines when necessary.
- Tasting and quality check of wines before presentation to the guest.
- Maintaining pour levels and clearing glasses.
- Provide efficient drink running service.
- Provide all related beverage services.
- Bi-Weekly Wine inventory.
- Weekly Wine ordering with Manager approval.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period.
- May be required to lift trays of food or drinks up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to receive and carry multiple bottles of wine at a time, up to but not limited to a full case of wine.
Skills/Experience
- At least two (2) years previous high-end restaurant or hotel experience.
- Level 2 Sommelier Certification or higher from an accredited program.
- Excellent listener and communicator.
- Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask.
- Team player and able to anticipate others’ needs.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
