Location: Hybrid- Remote & Los Angeles Office

Job Description:

We are in search of a visionary Vice President (VP) of Engineering who will not only lead our dynamic engineering team but also be a hands-on coder, providing technical leadership to drive innovation. This role reports directly to the CEO and is a pivotal one in shaping the future of Sootchy Inc. We seek a leader with a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on coding experience, a strong background in fintech, and a proven track record of having successfully built and released products while leading teams of 10+ junior and senior developers. This is not their first time in a leadership role, and they bring valuable experience and insights to drive Sootchy's success.


Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on coding expertise and strategic guidance to the engineering team, aligning with our mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, actively contributing to coding and technical aspects.

Team Building and Management: Recruit, nurture, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Technology Stack: Assess and implement the most suitable technology stack to meet business needs, drive innovation, and ensure robust, scalable solutions.

Architectural Guidance: Define and maintain a robust technical architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.

Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce coding standards, quality assurance processes, and testing methodologies to deliver robust, dependable software.

Resource Management: Develop and oversee the engineering budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of products and features.

Agile Practices: Implement and champion agile development practices to enhance responsiveness and project execution speed.

Technical Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, promoting continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on coding experience, with a strong background in software development.
  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, preferably as a CTO, Director or VP of Engineering.
  • Experience in fintech is required.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of nurturing high-performing engineering teams.
  • A strategic thinker who can align technical initiatives with business objectives while embracing our core values.
  • Strong project management skills, ensuring on-time, on-budget software delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience leading product releases to market and post-launch execution.
