Our client has an immediate opening for an experienced Business Data Analyst I, II, III to join their growing team supporting the Department of Energy’s State and Community Energy Programs.
- This role can be hired in the greater DC area or in Golden, CO
- This role is hybrid with the anticipation that this person may need to be onsite 5 days a week.
- The salary range is from $70K-$130K (based on years of experience)
Business Data Analyst I
Responsibilities
- Provides data review, analysis, and reporting in support of the management of DOE SCEP’s portfolio. Supports the maintenance of current business data including identifying data gaps, exceptions, and quality issues; proposing resolution(s); and resolving issues.
- The BDAI may also perform analysis of the financial viability of state, local and tribal governments, as well as private and public companies within the renewable energy market utilizing a variety of sources including audits, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) reporting, Bankruptcydata.com, Factiva, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, regulatory reporting, and other news and feeds.
- Develops standard reports related to financial status, budgets, and spend plans and resources, staff, and hiring.
- Utilizes various data sources to develop requested reports and support analysis, including development of management level reports, briefings, case studies, and recommendations regarding findings, trends, and analysis for SCEP’s portfolio and projects.
- Provides support in the development of framework, systems, and processes, and techniques for performance and reporting.
- Determines impacts of changes in regulatory, legislative, industry, and market trends for project performers.
- Assists in leading data efforts in system modernization projects, including synchronizing data and establishing data reporting processes.
- Assists in leading data quality efforts; developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); and the development of business and functional requirements.
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time and work cross-functionally to assist with resolving problems and implementing changes; have good time management skills to meet deadlines, as well as good communication skills.
Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or another applicable field
- 6 years of experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Excel is required

Business Data Analyst II
Responsibilities
- The Business Data Analyst II (BDAII) provides data review, analysis, and
- reporting in support of the management of DOE SCEP’s portfolio.
- Supports the maintenance of current business data, including identifying data gaps, exceptions, and quality issues; proposing resolution(s); and resolving issues.
- Develops standard reports related to financial status, budgets, and spend plans and resources, staff, and hiring. Utilizes various data sources to develop requested reports and support analysis.
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis. Leads data efforts in system modernization projects including synchronizing data; establishing data reporting processes; leading data quality efforts; developing SOPs; and assisting with the development of business and functional requirements.
- Develops management level reports, briefings, case studies, and recommendations regarding findings, trends, and analysis for SCEP’s portfolio and projects. Provides support in the development of framework, systems, and processes, and techniques for performance and reporting.
- Provides senior level financial analysis and reporting; uses subject matter expertise to advise on financial matters; performs work independently.
- Develops presentations to senior management on the financial condition of companies; presents on analysis to internal and external senior level executives, as needed.
- Develops, improves, and maintains financial databases for company performance tracking.
- Determines impacts of changes in regulatory, legislative, industry, and market trends for project
- performers.

Business Data Analyst III
Responsibilities
- The Business Data Analyst III (BDAIII) provides data review, analysis, and reporting in support of the management of DOE SCEP’s portfolio.
- Supports the maintenance of current business data, including identifying data gaps, exceptions, and quality issues; proposing resolution(s); and resolving issues.
- Develops standard reports related to financial status, budgets, and spend plans and resources, staff, and hiring. Utilizes various data sources to develop requested reports and support analysis.
- Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Leads data efforts in system modernization projects including synchronizing data; establishing data
- reporting processes; leading data quality efforts; developing SOPs; and assisting with the
- development of business and functional requirements.
- The Business Data Analyst III (BDAIII) is responsible for analyzing financial information,
- performance, and associated risk-related exposure for SCEP’s portfolio and projects.
- Provides analysis of the financial viability of state, local and tribal governments as well as private and
- public companies within the renewable energy market utilizing a variety of sources including
- audits, D&B reporting, , Factiva, SEC filings, regulatory reporting,
- and other news and feeds.
- Develops reporting/infographics, trainings, and presentations
- Develops presentations to senior management on the financial condition of companies; presents on analysis to internal and external senior level executives as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree (2 years of experience may be substituted with a MS degree)
- Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with clients
- Experience working with the DOE or other federal agencies
