  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES A FULL 3 YEARS OF ICU EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED.
  • Typically, every other weekend is required but might have to work 3 weekends a month if unit is busy and needs extra coverage.
  • Flexibility is a must.
  • Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam upon offer with 2 max attempts.
  • There is also a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation (study guides will be provided with the first day instructions).
  • COVID vaccine is required or declination form with appropriate documentation AND hospital approval.
    Job Requirements
  • The right candidate will have 3 full years of current ICU experience and hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and AZ license or compact license.
  • TNCC is preferred.
  • Travelers could also float to the sister facility Mercy Gilbert, if needed.
  • Experience must also include EITHER neuro or CV.

  • Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin
  • Charge Nurse Yes, do not take patients
  • Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No monitor techs on unit, RN required to interpret own strip. GE monitors
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts & Scheduling Self scheduling. Manager may need to balance shifts for unit needs.
  • Weekend Requirements 3 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule, Nightshift weekends are Friday - Saturday. Dayshift are Saturday - Sunday
  • Holiday Requirements May have 1 holiday off in an assignment
  • Is there a call or standby requirement? No additional call/standby shifts required. However, may be low censused up to 3 times per contract depending on unit needs
    Unit Specific Information
  • # Beds 32
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:2, 1:1
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Level 1 trauma Center, Falls, GSW, blunt trauma, MVAs, trauma patients over age of 15. Ex-lap, crani, specialty neuro-surgery cases. CVA, status post-TPA, COVID, sepsis, ARDS.
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin
  • RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s Bipap, Airvo
  • Floating Requirements: Float to tele with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed
  • Unit/Department specific orientation: 1-2 days
  • Additional Notes: Same as SICU (above); Min EOW (could work up to 3 wknds/mo), first to float
    Additional Details
  • UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48hrs PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE of a position. MAX ATTEMPTS IS 2.
