Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Service Manager to lead our service department and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, leadership skills and a deep understanding of automotive diagnostics, enabling them to effectively manage service operations, oversee technicians, and enhance the overall performance of the service team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and exceptional leadership skills to drive service excellence.

Duties

• Lead and manage the service department to achieve operational goals and objectives.
• Oversee daily operations including scheduling, workflow management, and staff supervision.
• Ensure high-quality automotive service by maintaining standards for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
• Ensure approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
• Foster a customer-centric environment by addressing inquiries and resolving complaints effectively.
• Collaborate with advisors to promote service offerings and drive additional revenue through upselling while maintaining manufacturer benchmark CSI.
• Train and mentor staff on best practices in automotive service and customer engagement. Strive to exceed our customer’s expectations.
• Develop standards of customer treatment and enforce their use; devise special procedures for handling comebacks.
• Handle customer inquiries regarding services, repairs, and maintenance needs while providing exceptional customer service and resolve 100% of customer complaints in a timely manner.
• Handle timecard management, employee scheduling and adjustments for holidays and emergencies to ensure far and consistent staffing.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication regarding vehicle repairs and customer needs.
• Analyze performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance departmental performance.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations in service operations.

Experience

• Proven experience as an Automotive Service Manager or in a similar role within the automotive industry. Minimum 3 years experience managing a franchise dealership service department.
• Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics and repair, including transmission, engine, oil change, brake repair , suspension, alignment, and general mechanical knowledge.
• Familiarity with service writing processes and effective communication skills to transmit information clearly between customers and technicians.
• Ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional growth.
• Exceptional communication skills to interact with customers and staff professionally.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to enhance departmental performance.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Working knowledge of Windows-based essential software applications, Reynolds and AutoLoop.
