We are looking for a detail-oriented Automation QA Engineer with a strong background in API testing to join our fast-paced technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for our RESTful and/or SOAP APIs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams-developers, product managers, DevOps, and other QA engineers-to ensure our software meets the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with product owners and development teams to understand business requirements and acceptance criteria for API-related features.
  • Contribute to defining test strategies, including both manual and automated approaches, to effectively validate APIs.
Test Automation
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automation test suites for API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
  • Build automated frameworks to streamline testing, reduce manual overhead, and ensure consistency.
  • Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
Test Execution & Reporting
  • Execute manual and automated tests, analyze results, and identify root causes of defects.
  • Track and report defects using bug-tracking tools like JIRA, ensuring defects are assigned to the correct teams and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide clear and concise test results, metrics, and status updates to stakeholders.
Quality Assurance
  • Participate in code reviews of test scripts and mentor team members on best practices for test automation.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure APIs are designed for testability and reliability.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools or processes to improve test coverage, reliability, and speed.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration of automated tests into build and deployment pipelines.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clarifying requirements and defect resolutions.
Requirements
Must Have:
Technical Skills :
  • 7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Test Automation, particularly with API-focused testing.
  • Solid background in designing and implementing automated frameworks for API testing (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, Karate, SoapUI, or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with web technologies, RESTful/SOAP protocols, JSON/XML structures, and API design principles.

Leadership Skills:
  • Proven experience leading a team of developers in an Agile environment.
  • Strong ability to manage timelines, risks, and team performance.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and development teams.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to diagnose complex issues, propose innovative solutions, and implement them efficiently. Willingness to travel to client locations as needed for onsite meetings and workshops.
Flexibility to adapt to different time zones and stakeholder schedules.
Maintain strong client relationships and ensure project alignment with business objectives.
