Position Summary
UNM Neurology seeks aNeuromuscular Faculty to join the Neurology team. The position will be part of a team of facultyin providing quality patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting atUNM Hospital.
This position will participate inthe assessment and treatment of neuromuscular disorders in our ClinicalNeuroscience Center including: carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy,radiculopathy, muscle disease, ALS, muscular dystrophy, OPMD, and myastheniagravis. The ALS and MDA clinics arecertified as Care Centers by their national organizations.
Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care in a busy outpatient clinical setting, as well as inpatientand consult attending supervision of residents, fellows and medical studentsand midlevel providers. Academicresponsibilities include participation in teaching of medical students,residents, and fellows and research activities of the department. Based onqualifications leadership opportunities may be available.
UNMHospital is the tertiary care center for the State and the only NAEC level 4epilepsy center, and ALS / MDA center and comprehensive movement disordercenter in the State. The UNM NeurologyDepartment has 35 full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home towell-established Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible in neurology
  • Completed adult neurology residencytraining prior to start date
  • Eligible for medical licensure in thestate of New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a neuromuscular medicine/EMGfellowship prior to start date
  • 2-3 years of clinical experiencemanaging neurology patients
  • A demonstrated commitment todiversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working withbroadly diverse communities
