Architect Designer I - LAX
Overview
The Airport Architect Designer I is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing architectural projects specific to LAX airport facilities, focusing on both new construction and maintenance of existing structures. This role requires expertise in facility design (aviation preferred) and building systems while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Produces architectural drawings and diagrams in support of planning or design studies
- Supports production of presentation materials as needed
- Assist in Field Survey’s to document existing building conditions and extrapolate data into CAD (Revit Architecture).
- Help design and develop architectural plans for airport terminals, concourses, and support facilities at LAX
- Ensure compliance with California Building Codes (CBC) and security requirements
- Collaborate with structural, MEP and other engineers on complex airport systems including jetway interface
Required Qualifications
- 1-5 years of experience in architectural design, with some construction industry knowledge and/or interface
- Some experience with large-scale projects and/or aviation facilities
- Some proficiency in building codes and safety regulations
- Bachelor's degree in architecture preferred. Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field is acceptable
- Optional certifications may include LEED, Fitwel, PMP, PE, AICP, etc. or any other relevant certification (not required)
- Professional architecture license in California (preferred, not required)
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
- Sketchup (preferred, not required)
- Procore (preferred, not required)
- Bluebeam, Revu or Studio
- Adobe Suite of programs
- Microsoft 360 and its suite of software; including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel
Project Experience
- Airport Terminal renovation and modernization projects (Preferred, not required)
- Show us adjacent/relevant building experience (if not in Aviation)
Work Environment
- Based at LAX with regular site visits throughout the airport complex
- Must be able to work in active airport environments
- Security clearance required for accessing sensitive areas
- May involve off-hours work to accommodate airport operations
