Our client, a global industrial manufacturer, is looking to hire an experienced full-time Field Engineer to join their team!
Travel is expected to be at least 4 days a week for Field Engineers starting out. Once trained and independent, you will travel mostly around the NYC / Long Island area. There may also be very occasional coverage in New Jersey and Philadelphia. During training and on-boarding, there will be more travel outside of NYC / LI.
Position Overview:
This positions primary focus is to provide technical support to the firm, the sales and service teams, and its end users in order to facilitate growth of sales and targeted product initiatives, market segments and key customers.
In addition, the Field Engineer will assist in developing fluid handling solutions to specific customer needs and specifications. The Field Engineer will assist sales and customers with the firm's product selection, Fabrication discovery, and initiate growth opportunities with customers.
Lastly, the Engineer will support Custom Solutions operations through P&ID development, BOM development and technical support. Collaborate with the firm's Field Engineering and network of FE peers on best practices and assigned project work.
General Responsibilities:
- Drive sales of targeted products and services
- Act as technical representative in support of existing installations and product returns
- Perform evaluations of customer fluid systems to identify areas of improvement, drive plant efficiencies, and offer possible solutions via formal reports
- Assist customers in product support engineering work where needed, field adjustments, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, etc.
- Develop and deliver technical product presentations that directly address customer needs and emphasize the company's value proposition
- Discover and develop Fabrication opportunities including include BOM generation and P&ID creation
- Select and recommend products into specific customer applications
- Provide SSC training and technical support on products and applications
- Develop plans and implement activities to support the SSC operating and marketing business plans
- Collaborate with other field engineers on technical applications and solutions
- Identify the changing application needs for new products and existing products while providing feedback to the appropriate factory personnel on improvements to products or services
- Provide assistance on specific SSC and corporate marketing initiatives
Requirements, Competencies, & Skills:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree program/industry experience
- Complete Field Engineering Base Training Requirements per Field Engineering Program
- Ability to interpret and understand customer applications to develop P&ID and fluid schematics
- Skills to solve complex problems and complete projects using problem solving methods to make sound engineering decisions
- Ability to identify and assess new opportunities for the SSC, and work with customers as part of the sales or services process
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Good presentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and use of various technical calculation software
- Familiar with current engineering drawing platforms (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
