Fleet Manager (ELD Experience Required)

My client is a rapidly growing logistics company specializing in Drayage Transportation. We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Fleet/ Safety Manager with proven experience in managing fleets using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our fleet, ensuring efficient and safe transportation of goods while maintaining strict compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations, particularly those related to ELDs. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of ELD systems and their application in fleet management.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a fleet of 200 trucks and drivers.
  • Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) using ELD systems and ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations.
  • Analyze ELD data to identify trends, improve driver performance, and optimize routes.
  • Provide training and support to drivers on the proper use of ELD systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Manage driver schedules and dispatch to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies to improve fuel efficiency.
  • Investigate and resolve accidents and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Negotiate with vendors for maintenance, repairs, and other services.
  • Develop and implement fleet management strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management.
  • Demonstrable experience with ELD systems (specify preferred systems if applicable, e.g., Samsara, KeepTruckin, Omnitracs).
  • Thorough understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations, particularly HOS regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • CDL license.
  • Experience with (mention any specific industry experience, e.g., refrigerated transport, hazardous materials).
