Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Central Processing Department Educator
Job Specialty: Central Processing Department Education
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: AM - 8 hours; Day Shift - primarily days, may vary start times based on unit needs; No weekends and no major holidays
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 3+ years of recent experience as an Educator in Central Processing/Operating Room. Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree and experience with adult learning theory preferred.
License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
Certifications: Certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Central Board of Sterile Processing Departments (CBSPD), or other related recognized certification such as an Operating Room Technician.
Must-Have:
- Ability to apply principles of adult learning.
- Analytical skills to solve technical clinical issues and conduct quality improvement and research utilization projects.
- Advanced interpersonal and writing skills for developing educational programs and performing leadership responsibilities.
- Basic computer proficiency for data access and entry.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to evaluate clinical technical competence.
Job Description:
- Report to the Central Processing Department Director and assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate orientation, continuing education, and in-service programs for staff.
- Implement training and orientation programs, including job shadowing and teaching formal classes for new employees and students.
- Provide feedback on trainees' performance and recommend employment continuation.
- Prepare and train new CPD staff to ensure adherence to practices and policies.
- Evaluate and interview job candidates and recommend organizational fit.
- Coordinate with Operating Room Charge Nurses and Nurse Educators to schedule clinical rotations.
- Educate staff on new CPD technologies, policy changes, and evaluate innovation effectiveness.
- Monitor the progress of CPD technicians preparing for certification exams.
- Serve as a liaison between institutional departments and partners for collaborative programs.
- Utilize the Incident Reporting system to identify areas for improvement and develop training materials.
- Assist with training plans for quality improvement projects.
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in CPD technology and sterilization practices.
- Provide educational support to employees on all shifts and weekends.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures, and perform duties as assigned.
