Job Title: Director of Estimating – HVAC

Location: Edison, NJ

Salary: $150,000 - $1200,000 (DOE) + Benefits

We are a well-established mechanical company specializing in HVAC solutions, based in Edison, NJ. We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Estimating to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the estimation process for our HVAC projects, working closely with senior management, project managers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating department for all HVAC projects, including but not limited to commercial, industrial, and residential installations and retrofits.
• Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are aligned with project scope and client requirements.
• Prepare and present detailed proposals, including cost breakdowns and schedules, to clients and internal teams.
• Ensure the accuracy of all estimates and bids, addressing any discrepancies or challenges with the project scope or technical specifications.
• Manage the development and implementation of estimating strategies to drive efficiency, accuracy, and profitability.
• Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive pricing and stay ahead of market conditions.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution from bid to completion.
• Train and mentor junior estimating staff, promoting professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in estimating within the HVAC or mechanical contracting industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in managing and leading estimating teams, with expertise in HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC system design, construction processes, and industry standards.
• In-depth knowledge of construction cost databases, software tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam), and estimating procedures.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
