JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, install, and maintain equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes.
- Assist in creating and following electrical design schedule, from specification concept to system up completion, while keeping to an overall project schedule.
- Test, evaluate, modify and calibrate products and instruments.
- Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
- Interact with internal and external customers, accomplishing project milestones.
- Create bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in ERP system.
- Create PLC programs for control of generator paralleling switchgear.
- Execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources.
- Provide directions to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls.
- Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language.
- Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers.
- Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms.
- Interpret customer specifications and drawings and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements.
- Customize PLC software and hardware templates.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical engineering or related field with 8-10 years’ experience, OR
- Master’s degree in engineering, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical engineering or related field with 6+ years’ experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with technical proficiency in some software applications.
- Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language.
- Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture.
- Understand the design philosophy, operation, and control of complex PLC based systems.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls.
- Understand protective relays, their functions associated with Generator, and Utility protection applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
