The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.Position Summary InformationJob Description SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant works collaboratively in the Student Health Center with a multidisciplinary team whose primary responsibility is providing quality health care services for students of Chapman University, in accordance with standards of professional practice and ethical conduct. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant performs diagnostic, therapeutic, preventative and health maintenance services under the direction and supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant maintains accurate and complete medical records, and maintains strict confidentiality of clinical, social, financial, or other student data in compliance with university, state and federal guidelines.ResponsibilitiesProvide quality health care services for student illness/injury within the scope of the nurse practitioner/physician assistant practice and established Student Health Center policies and procedures:Obtain detailed and accurate medical histories from student.Perform appropriate physical examinations, formulate diagnosis and treatment plan under physician supervision and record in the patient file.Perform and/or interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing.Perform procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care.Provide continuity of care in the management of the student's illness and injury under the supervision of a physician.Instruct and counsel student regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.Provide first aid, evaluations and/or referral of student employee occupational injuries in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines.Prescribe medications and other treatment in accordance with the standardized procedures.Provide and counsel on medications including correct usage and side effects.Maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical use.Promote health and wellness in areas of lifestyle and behavior that enhance physical, psychological, and social well-being.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or a combination of related education and experience.Master's degree requiredGraduate of a certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant ProgramCurrent California Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant licenseCPR CertificationMinimum of 2 years of applicable experience as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant preferably in a health care clinic setting.Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniquesAbility to work collaboratively with all members of the student health services teamDemonstrated clinical skills commensurate with training and licensureStrong ability to make responsible decisions in compliance with health care and University Student Health Center policies and protocol'sDemonstrated ability to work independently and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAbility to understand and abide by FERPA regulationsAbility to effectively communicate and interact with diverse parent and student populations and demonstrate sensitivity to their individual needsAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situationsAbility to maintain credentialing and licensureDesired QualificationsProfessional experience in providing student health services at a higher education institution.Special Instructions to ApplicantsChapman University is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic global community.
