The Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) serves and supports the restaurant industry in Texas by providing resources for success and growth. TRA has been advocating for restaurant members since 1937, helping to increase sales, reduce expenses, and improve profitability. Membership in TRA also includes membership in the National Restaurant Association and TRA's local Texas chapters, multiplying the value of the investment.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Texas Restaurant Association serves to protect, advance, and educate the 56,000+ restaurant and foodservice establishments in the State of Texas and the more than 1.4 million people in the industry’s workforce. The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing Manager in executing email marketing, social media campaigns, website management, and event promotion for the TRA and its Chapters. The primary focus will be on assisting with social media and email marketing for key events, ensuring impactful communication and engagement.
The intern will also travel to two major events in Houston and Waco (March 28th - 30th and July 19th - 21st), where they will handle event setup, email marketing, social media management, and other on-site responsibilities. This role contributes directly to the TRA's mission of empowering Texas’ restaurant industry and workforce through strategic marketing and event engagement.
DUTIES:
General Duties and Requirements:
- Work in the Austin office with a hybrid schedule (20-25 hours per week, depending on project needs)
- Design marketing materials using Canva
- Collaborate with and report directly to the Marketing Manager
- Adobe Creative Suite proficiency is a plus, but not required
- Manage and update content on TRA and show websites
Social Media Marketing Requirements:
- Create social media content for all platforms using Canva and TRA imagery
- Schedule posts on Facebook and Instagram using Agorapulse, and manage content via Meta Business Suite
- Compile and generate monthly social media performance reports
- Oversee social media posting, monitoring, and engagement during events
Email Marketing Requirements:
- Leverage Mailchimp to manage email marketing
- Develop email campaign content for event attendees and exhibitors
- Collaborate with four metro offices to design and distribute email campaigns for TRA Chapters as needed
EDUCATION:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
