Position Summary:
As an Automation Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to develop, design, and maintain advanced computerized sub-systems for manufacturing equipment. Your role will focus on optimizing automation processes using PLC Ladder Logic, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), Vision Inspection systems, and Motor Controllers. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development : Create, modify, and maintain computer-controlled sub-systems for new, existing, and prototype production equipment.
- Prototype Innovation : Design and build prototypes for new products and production equipment to support manufacturing advancements.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving : Partner with contract manufacturers, external vendors, and internal teams to validate, optimize, and troubleshoot automated systems.
- System Maintenance : Maintain a robust library of control data, application files, and backup systems for all production equipment.
- Training and Leadership : Conduct training sessions to empower technical teams in troubleshooting and maintaining computerized systems.
- Continuous Improvement : Develop creative approaches to address manufacturing challenges, enhancing system reliability and efficiency.
- Compliance and Quality : Ensure all systems comply with quality standards and safety regulations, working closely with validation and quality teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience : A minimum of five years of related experience, including two years in designing, modifying, and repairing custom automation equipment.
- Technical Expertise :
- Proficient in PLC Ladder Logic, Electrical Schematics, and Pneumatic Diagrams.
- Experienced in troubleshooting and integrating sensors, communication networks, motors, and mechanical systems.
- Skilled in CAD software (AutoCAD or Pro-E) for creating and modifying designs.
- Familiarity with serial and Ethernet networks, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and prototyping mechanical fixtures.
- Soft Skills : Strong communication, multitasking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility : Willingness to work varying hours and travel up to 20%.
