The Development Manager (DM) is a dynamic player on our collaborative team, partnering closely with the Development Director, CEO, Director of Finance, Communications Manager, multiple program directors, board members and community volunteers to strengthen North Texas families and prevent child abuse and neglect. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Development Manager to plan and execute our multifaceted fundraising and development initiatives including events planning and management, grant seeking and management efforts, donor cultivation, board member relations, and donor database management. Reporting to the Development Director, this position will serve as a support contact for all agency development efforts.


The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, ability and willingness to work collaboratively, a clear focus on details and logistics, and the ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously. Key Responsibilities (this list is not all-inclusive):

Special Events

  • Oversee the budgeting, planning, implementation, and day-of logistics for all fundraising events including driving timelines around all fundraising events including but not limited to: North Star Luncheon, Family Compass Lip Sync Battle, North Texas Giving Day, and Annual Golf Charity Classic
  • Oversee and drive acquisition of underwriter, team, table, and individual ticket sponsors for all events and manage budget and income forecasting for all events
  • Drive timelines around all fundraising events
  • Manage the online donation platform and event registration
  • Cultivate individual donors via special events, campaigns, and general prospecting and maintain donor relations by engaging key stakeholders, community partners and corporations

Donor and Database Management

  • Utilize Network for Good database to manage all development data, including any data entry, data imports, generating reports, running basic analytics, and generating mailing lists
  • Maintain donor records in database inclusive of donors and prospects on server and in paper files
  • Create acknowledgements and tax documentation for donations in a timely manner
  • Consistently update public donor membership acknowledgment lists including donor walls and website, as needed

General Fundraising and Development

  • Work with Development team to cultivate donor pipeline and grow community awareness of the agency’s mission
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of newsletters, annual reports, sponsorships, annual campaigns, and other mass mailings to donor base
  • Represent and support the agency with external speaking opportunities and community events
  • Establish and maintain contacts and participation in events to promote the agency
  • Promote and coordinate with external partners on all third-party events
  • Process in-kind donations and supervise all aspects of the Rainbow Room
  • Support agency client events including but not limited to: Client Holiday Party, Back to School Event, CAPCO Committee, and Car Seat Event(s)

Grant Research and Development:

  • Research and identify funding opportunities from government, foundation, and corporate sources compatible with agency’s mission, values and programs in support of the organization’s strategic and program goals and coordinate the grant fulfillment processes with an annual fundraising goal including but not limited to $1.4 - $1.9 million
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with program staff to develop grant concepts and proposals

Grant Management and Submission:

  • Supervise and coordinate with contract grant writers to research, develop and write high-quality grant proposals, including narratives and supporting documents
  • Coordinate with Director of Finance on grant budgets
  • Ensure compliance with funding agency guidelines and requirements
  • Submit grant proposals in a timely and efficient manner

Grant Management and Reporting:

  • Manage the grant lifecycle from submission to close-out
  • Ensure compliance with funding agency requirements and regulations
  • Oversee the submission of grant reports, including progress reports, financial reports, and final reports

Grant Tracking and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain a grant tracking system to monitor grant submissions, approvals, and reporting deadlines
  • Analyze grant data to inform grant seeking strategies and improve grant writing success rates

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Network and conduct funder outreach
  • Coordinate and provide site visits and meetings with funders
  • Collaborate with program staff, finance, and executive leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Communicate grant opportunities, deadlines, and requirements to program staff and leadership
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies and partners


Necessary Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; coursework in communications, writing, business management, public relations and/or social service preferred
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of non-profit experience
  • Established relationships within the DFW philanthropic landscape preferred
  • Proven track record of writing successful grant research, proposals and managing grants
