Senior Manufacturing Engineer

BUSINESS: Leslie Controls, Inc.

LOCATION: Tampa, FL

REPORTING TO: Process Engineering Manager


We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Leslie Controls, Inc. In this role, you will support new product development, process improvements, daily product support, and key program management. As a technical authority in metal processes, you will analyze and interpret technical data (e.g., engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase orders) to create shop routings, operation sheets, tools, and other necessary processes to produce high-quality products.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and sequence operations for the fabrication and assembly of products based on customer order requirements.
  • Ensure efficient and effective manufacturing methods compatible with available machinery.
  • Design, specify, and/or procure special tooling or equipment to meet customer requirements within budget and timelines.
  • Program CNC machines to effectively and efficiently produce the desired products.
  • Analyze and resolve fabrication and tooling issues to minimize production delays.
  • Create or modify manufacturing drawings using CAD methodology.
  • Design manufacturing processes for gear box housings used in military and aerospace applications.
  • Draft detailed engineering plans and graphics to guide manufacturing processes.
  • Implement machining and design process improvements, resulting in significant reductions in scrap rates.
  • Value engineer existing products and processes to optimize costs, lead times, and cycle times.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as military and contractual requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive machining experience in the production of close-tolerance, high-precision products made from various metal alloys.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools such as NX, SolidWorks, or Mastercam (preferred).
  • Strong background in metal processing, including heat treating, surface finishing, forging, and casting.
  • Advanced project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, SolidWorks, and CATIA.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a collaborative approach to group discussions and decision-making.
  • Aptitude for data analysis, reporting, and identifying trends.
  • Demonstrated process improvement expertise using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write reports and present data effectively.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial required)
  • 7 years of engineering experience with hands-on manufacturing experience in aerospace or high-precision environments.

Alternatively, candidates with the following qualifications will also be considered:

  • An associate degree with a focus on engineering fundamentals and 10 years of engineering experience with hands-on manufacturing experience in aerospace or high-precision environments.
  • Proven experience in high-mix/low- to mid-volume production environments.
