As a Mail Courier with East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities
Courier Duties:
Responsible for transportation and delivery of packages, documents, mail, supplies, vaccines, medications, etc. and other deliveries as scheduled and per approved request.
Courier responsible for the safe and timely delivery of transported items, ensuring items reach the intended recipient quickly and efficiently.
Pick-up and transport deposits to bank each workday
Sort mail and process thru mail machine to apply correct postage
Deliver mail to post office each workday
Responsible for planning and optimizing delivery routes to ensure efficient and timely deliveries
Move/transport furniture such as file cabinets, small tables, chairs, small pieces of equipment, etc.
Move or transport large furniture item or appliances, such as heavy desk, credenzas, refrigerators, etc. with assistance
Facilities Maintenance - Assist facilities maintenance team as requested and available
Respond to security and fire alarms at the Laney Walker and South Augusta facility when notified and provide back-up response for North Leg facility.
Assist with fire safety efforts Assist with stripping and waxing projects
Set-up and break-down for meetings, trainings, and other events as needed Some weekend and after-hours work
Supply/Inv/Warehouse - Pack and unpack items to be stocked in stockrooms and warehouses.
Assist with unloading deliveries
Transports vaccines and other medication adhering to O.C.G.A. $16-13-72 and CDC Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit, and Sections B,C,D,E of the Drug Dispensing Procedure from the manual Nurse Protocols for Registered Nurses in Public Health.
Oversees proper receipt and storage of vaccine and drug shipments; prepares vaccines and drugs for transport; assures appropriate storage of drugs and vaccines per manufacturer's recommendations; monitors temperature.
HIPAA - Adhere to established policies on privacy & security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as applicable by agency policy.
ETHICS - Train on Ethics policy via web each calendar year
COMMUNICATION - Respectfully listen to others; comprehends written material; presents information in a clear and concise manner orally and in writing to ensure others understand his/her ideas; and
appropriately adapts his/her message, style, and tone to accommodate a variety of audiences.
FLEXIBLITY - Adapt to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively; does not shy away from addressing setbacks or ambiguity; deal effectively with a variety of people and situations; appropriately adapts one's thinking or approach as the situation changes.
Minimum Qualifications
•High School Diploma or GED
•1 Year Experience as a courier
•Must pass background check
•Valid Driver's License
•Clean Driving Record
•Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs
•Must be able to drive company vehicle

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
