This role involves direct clinical practice, collaboration with treatment teams, and advocacy for medical needs. The physician also treats HHS employees injured during work and operates in a designated health professional shortage area, offering opportunities for loan repayment programs.
Physician II The Staff physician at the State Center is responsible for the effective delivery of high quality medical services to individuals with intellectual disabilities served. Work involves direct delivery of clinical practices and monitoring of medical services, participating in treatment team process, advocate for the medical needs of persons serviced, and working with the individual's families, Family Nurse Practitioners, and with consultants and community medical providers in other medical specialty areas. This position reports directly to the Medical Director of the State Supported Living Center and works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment. Lubbock State Supported Living Center has been classified as a HPSA (health professional shortage area) for primary care physicians which will make them eligible to apply for the PELRP (physician education loan repayment program) administered by the THECB.
