Salary Range: $180K-$200K/Annum
Job Description: - The Site Leader provides business & strategic oversight across one or more lab locations located geographically remote to the larger Salt Lake City, Utah operations.
- They are the coordination point for cross-sectional laboratory projects with a strong emphasis on project based advanced analytical chemistry experience and understanding, resources, and staffing, including scientific and regulatory issues.
- Additionally, they oversee the execution of the company strategy and ensure a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- They are a subject matter expert and technical resource for laboratory staff, specifically in the areas of Chemistry and Microbiology, internal teams, and the customer. This role leads and develops lab managers and others to increase the company's leadership bench strength.
Essential Duties: Business Operations & Strategic Oversight
- Execute the clients' business unit strategy and ensure alignment with our One Company values, mission, and goals.
- This includes an emphasis in one or more of the following:
- Customer focus to enhance customers' service experience, including service delivery (turnaround times).
- Ensure the NL service standard is known and practiced.
- Lead the emphasis to leverage systems and drive overall competitiveness.
- Provide company-wide resource sharing to meet customer needs, including equipment and facilities and resource utilization.
- Talent Management
- Manage assigned lab managers and others as they work to carry out the profitable volume growth, quality, service delivery, employee engagement and other department objectives with accountability.
- Regularly meet one on one with direct reports.
- Work with the VP of Operations and HR to submit data-driven, add-to-staff or replacement headcount, requests that are justified based upon business need.
- Ensure that personnel receive adequate communication and direction to perform their job functions by setting clear performance standards and expectations.
- Work with the HR team to develop succession plans for SME and key roles to maintain business continuity
- Partner with the HR team to retain talent.
- Support the focus on leader development.
- Preserve the company focus on data and personal integrity. Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Guide implementation of all company safety initiatives.
- Operational Excellence
- Understand and manage business unit P&L, budget, and financial metrics.
- Plan for business resources, personnel, CapEx using financial models and ROI.
- Maintain and monitor production metrics in accordance with NL performance goals.
- Scheduling - optimize testing workflow across departments and ensure resources and personnel are adequate to accomplish the work in process and to meet business needs with client expectations for delivery and service.
- Work on continuous improvement to increase efficiencies and reduce waste.
- Manage and control expenditures within agreed upon budgets.
- Manage utilization and key production metrics with visibility to staff
- Lead development of consistent section training programs
- Ensure company-wide communications are understood by the appropriate personnel.
- Manage and forecast supply chain to minimize or eliminate testing interruptions.
Change Management - During mergers or acquisitions, provide support to key stakeholders to ensure that integration of new sites is successful.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with internal departments across varying geographies.
Professional Development - Collaborate with the training team to ensure personnel have adequate knowledge and training to perform their job functions.
- Partner with HR in talent development to increase expertise, engage team members, and provide succession for key roles, ensuring business continuity.
- Lead the effort to build SME and emerging industry knowledge within the labs.
Regulatory Compliance - Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).
- Know and follow company policies and procedures.
- Complete required training on time.
- Work with quality leaders to improve processes, compliance, and integrity of data.

Education and experience requirements - Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or other relevant science. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years' experience managing a team.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device Industry
- Strong business acumen required. Experience managing a P&L preferred.
Scientific education, experience, and certifications preferred: - NRCM-RM/SM
- ASQ Certification
- Chemistry Certification (nationally recognized)
- Other relevant certifications*
Work Environment: - This job operates in a professional office and lab environment. This role routinely enters the lab to perform work.
- Travel - Occasional travel, some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be required (less than 25%)
