Description
Summary:
This position is in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences. The position is a full-time, 9-month position in the Department of Psychology and Counseling. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated location. Teaches a minimum of 12 credit hours per academic semester. Perspective employee must be committed to teaching and advising first generation college students from diverse backgrounds at various skill levels. The tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaches a variety of undergraduate courses in the general Psychology program
  • Teaches courses in the Psychology rhetoric in a variety of specialty areas
  • Advise and mentor psychology majors and hold weekly Office Hours.
  • Participates in the activities/committees of Department, College, and University including recruitment and new course/curriculum development.
  • Contribute to the scholarly advancement of the Department through a productive research agenda, which results in publication or grantsmanship.
  • Teaches both on-line and in person face-to-face courses
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • A terminal degree in Psychology.
  • Qualified candidates must have earned a Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited program. (i.e PhD, PsyD, EdD).
  • One (1) to three (3) years-experience teaching at the college level within the given discipline.
  • Coursework and experience teaching courses in Psychology is required
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated in a teaching demonstration
  • Experience teaching a diverse population

  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in assessment of writing and critical thinking

  • Research methods, including experiments, surveys, observational studies data gathering and test theories, and other techniques
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with department faculty, students, and those in other disciplines to support the mission of the University teaching and Handbook.
