Job Description
Job Description
The Psychology Department at Saint Michael's College invites applications for an Assistant Professor with expertise in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
This position is Tenure Track, and will begin August 2025, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department supports a thriving master's program in Clinical-Counseling Psychology. Candidates should demonstrate an active research trajectory that would include student researchers. Teaching responsibilities include six four-credit classes per academic year. Candidates should also be interested in participating in curriculum development and advising at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Courses would focus on clinical or counseling psychology and may include psychopathology, theories of personality, and other areas within the scope of expertise.
The culture of the psychology department is one of commitment to collaboration, student excellence, effective communication, and passion for teaching and service. We create intentional connections and invite opinions and perspectives into the conversation. In the classroom, we work together to provide an environment where students feel they belong.
Our lived experience impacts how we self-assess our skills, experience, and qualifications. In particular, data and statistics have shown that candidates who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people from working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, and others with minoritized and marginalized identities may not apply to jobs when they do not believe they meet 100% of the requirements and expected responsibilities listed in the job descriptions. Some responsibilities and skills are teachable and can be learned on the job. If you can imagine yourself in this position, bringing value to our students and community and meeting most of what we are looking for, please apply.
Benefits include health, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance, voluntary life, critical illness and accident insurance options, parental leave, flexible spending accounts (healthcare and dependent care), 401(k), employee and dependent tuition benefits, employee assistance program, well-being programs and opportunities, discounted gym membership, paid volunteer time, use of the athletic facilities and the library, and countless opportunities to attend presentations, lectures, and other campus activities.
Requirements:
Applicants must have the following:
  • Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-Accredited Program and will have completed an APA-Accredited predoctoral internship. Applicants should be license-eligible in Vermont as a Psychologist at the doctoral level.
An offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
Application Instructions:
