Description
Springfield College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position in the Department of Biology/Chemistry. The College seeks an evolutionary ecologist, who can contribute to the Biology and Environmental Science programs. The successful candidate will be an excellent and innovative teacher with a strong interest in undergraduate education and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM education. The teaching responsibility for the position is 12 credits per semester. The courses taught can range from introductory to upper level in both the Biology and Environmental Science programs, such as Introductory Evolutionary, Organismal, and Ecological Biology, Ecology, and Evolution. There is also the possibility of developing new courses to enhance our programs. Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising/mentoring and service to and beyond the college. The college subscribes to the Boyer areas of scholarship. An active research agenda (or promise of) in any of the Boyer areas of scholarship that has potential for undergraduate involvement and dissemination beyond the college is needed.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a PhD in Evolution or Ecology or related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD's with a summer degree completion date will be considered.
