Job Description

A law firm seeks an experienced Trial Attorney to join a dynamic legal team in Costa Mesa, CA. This position offers the opportunity to assist senior attorneys in managing a variety of cases, providing legal support, and helping drive strategy through trial preparation, depositions, and mediations. The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of relevant experience and a passion for litigation, strategy, and client service. This role will also involve fostering relationships with clients and experts, as well as assisting with case evaluations, legal research, and the drafting of legal documents.

Duties

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and identify effective legal solutions.
  • Assist in preparing litigation reports and risk assessments to inform case decisions.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and other court appearances on behalf of clients.
  • Participate in focus groups and stay updated on current legislation impacting cases.
  • Build and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with clients and expert witnesses.
  • Assist in drafting and finalizing legal documents such as complaints, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Negotiate low-level settlements and represent clients during mediation sessions.
  • Provide support in managing legal teams by mentoring and training junior staff.
  • Help prepare and refine pleadings, motions to compel, and other case-related documents.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in litigation or trial-related matters.
  • Active membership in the State Bar and a license to practice law.
  • Proven ability to handle a high caseload and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Expertise in specific branches of law, with a focus on litigation and trial preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with clients, attorneys, and experts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong public speaking ability.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field is required.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar and an up-to-date license to practice law.
