ELTA North America (ELTA NA) is a global leader in the design, manufacture and support of innovative electronic systems for the United States government and Israel’s Ministry of Defense. ELTA NA is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Software Engineer for Defense programs. The Software Engineer will develop, research, design, implement, test, and evaluate software and systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, enabling computers to perform their applications by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develops, researches, designs, implements, tests, and evaluates software and firmware for embedded systems that integrate sensors into a larger active protection system.
2. Participates in internal and external design reviews, readiness reviews, and program reviews.
3. Analyzes software/firmware requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
4. Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
5. Develops and directs software system testing procedures and documentation.
6. Provides on-site support for integration events, test events, demonstrations, and customer support.
7. Works closely with engineers from our parent company in Israel.

Required Qualifications

1. Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOD Secret Clearance.
2. Embedded Software Experience with strong C/C++ skills.
3. Experience integrating sensors into command-and-control systems.
4. Experience working with network communication protocols (TCP, UDP).
5. Experience developing and debugging software in a Linux and Windows environment.
6. Familiarity with Cybersecurity standards including but not limited to:

• FIPS Publication 197, Advanced Encryption Standard.
• FIPS Publication 180-4, Secure Hash Standard.
• IEC / ISO 11770-2, IT Security Techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Active and in-scope Secret US security clearance.
2. Familiarity with Audio-Video Bridging (AVB).
3. Basic familiarity with Radar Systems and Optical Detection Systems.
4. Experience with FPGA programming and an HDL (Verilog is preferred).
5. Some electrical engineering experience is a plus.
