Job Description

Job ID: 2881785 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support our storage, streaming, and messaging services for Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute, storage, content delivery, AI/ML, database services, and more.

We're looking for a products counseling attorney to support AWS’s innovative cloud services. In this role, you will work directly with business teams as lead counsel advising your clients as they develop and operate cloud products and services with duties including: identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies; advising on regulatory and compliance matters, privacy, security, IP, and go-to-market strategy; drafting and negotiating commercial licensing agreements; and providing day-to-day input on business strategy. Your role will give you the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders, including privacy, security, marketing, and public policy teams.

You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, a fast learner, and someone who enjoys being continually challenged and can exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Lawyers at Amazon are trusted members of the business. Our work is intellectually challenging, exciting, and fast-paced. Developing innovative solutions to novel legal questions is part of our daily business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of legal experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with technology, IP licensing and technology transactions, data privacy, cloud computing, or enterprise software systems.
- A combination of law firm and in-house experience.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound and practical business judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.
