We are seeking a skilled back-end developer to join our IBM Software team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products, working with a variety of technologies and programming languages.
Your role and responsibilities

The z/TPF team is looking for an experienced software developer that will often work closely with clients to understand, design, and develop solutions to their requirements.
As a software developer in z/TPF, you will work with clients and others in a multidisciplinary team to define requirements and develop solutions. You will design, code, and test solutions using C/C++, Assembler, and other technologies. You will support the product through maintenance activities such as responding to high severity problems and cases, performing problem diagnosis, and providing fixes.
The z/TPF lab is a complete organization where we do everything from requirements gathering to development to test to maintenance. The lab works as a collection of self-directed Agile teams where all team members work collaboratively through our requirements and development processes.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Experienced in software development
- Experienced in C/C++ and at least one or more of the following languages: Java, Assembler, Python
- Analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills to analyze issues and defects reported by customer-facing and test teams
- Self-motivated towards meeting agreed goals
- Experience with source control management tools, e.g. GitHub, and with Agile Life Cycle Management tools, e.g. Jira
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience in projects including feature development, troubleshooting, production support, and customization based on business requirements.
- Proficient in Linux and/or Windows server environments
- Familiar with databases and database systems including SQL / NoSQL databases (DB2, MongoDB, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.)
