Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a DevOps Engineer for a brand new program. This position will be full-time and fully remote.

Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for assisting with building and deploying our DevOps on a brand-new modernization project set to modernize the Kiosk Gravesite Locator software on 113 Kiosks across our National Cemeteries. This work will also include the development of an exact replica of the Kiosk software functionality in a mobile application for Android and iOS. Our DevOps Engineer will support the infrastructure build and maintenance, deployments, DevOps processes, security requirements, etc., across the KGL program.

  1. Perform daily infrastructure as code updates.
  2. Manage code deployments in all environments.
  3. Participate in design and code reviews and offer direction to ensure project scoping activities match architectural goals and specifications.
  4. Document DevOps processes and ensure that the DevOps platforms are up to date and properly maintained.
  5. Create, develop, and implement solutions to address infrastructure and security requirements.
  6. Identify the needs for build automation, designing, and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) solutions; Maintain GitLab pipelines.
  7. Implement DevOps tools and technologies.
  8. Test new systems and applications.
  9. Automate key security processes.
  10. Create solutions for an efficient and secure organization.
  11. Consult on DevOps requirements from diverse application/line of business partners.
  12. Create plug-and-play/reusable solutions and patterns for CI/CD pipelines.
  13. Create, develop, and implement automation and system integration for various build platforms.
  14. Create and disseminate CI/CD best practices, patterns, and solutions.
  15. Ensure that the service’s uptime and response time SLAs are met or surpassed.
  16. Build or maintain CI/CD building blocks and shared libraries proactively for app and development teams to enable quicker build and deployment.
  17. Design action plans to address CI/CD platform/tools/solutions’ shortcomings and difficulties.
  18. Actively participate in bridge calls with team members and contractors/vendors to prevent or quickly address problems.
  19. Troubleshoot, identify, and fix problems in the DevOps domain.
  20. Align with technological Systems/Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and industry-standard service management principles (such as ITIL).

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience).
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in a variety of DevOps toolkits, including Dockers, Helm Chart, Artifactory, Jira, Sonarqube, Nexus repository, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab /Version Control Software, or comparable technologies.
  • Docker/container knowledge.
  • Experience setting up DevOps in an AWS Cloud hosted environment.
  • Knowledge of DevOps Automation (TerraForm, GitHub, GitHub Actions).
  • Familiarity with API Security, Container Security, & AWS Cloud Security.
  • Familiarity with Amazon AWS policy, configuration, and security management tools.
  • Experience with security automation and machine learning.
  • Proven capacity for thinking leadership and a highly creative problem-solver.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to express technical information clearly at different organizational levels.
  • Communication and collaboration skills to work with other professionals to integrate security throughout the SDLC efficiently.
  • Familiarity with information security frameworks, standards, and concepts of integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
  • Strong understanding of the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of best security practices and principles.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Clearance Required:

    The ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
