Job Description

The RedHat Linux Administrator should be able to manage, maintain, and secure Linux systems to include performing and verifying backups, restore files and managing user accounts. The administrator should be able to complete a broad range of hands-on technical tasks.

Key skills and responsibilities include:

  • Expert knowledge of the Linux file system, adhering to best practices.
  • Proficient in Linux command-line operations and advanced scripting.
  • Comprehensive use of sudo and handling limited root user tasks.
  • Expert knowledge of networks and troubleshooting network problems.
  • Expert knowledge of backup, restore, and recovery procedures, adhering to best practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of permissions and user management, to include RBAC, auditing, ACLs, namespaces.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in AWS and on-prem hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent cross-team collaboration experience solving complex problems.
  • Standup and maintenance of AWS infrastructure and applications, to include scaling resources (disk space, memory, cpu).
  • Script and automate routine, manual tasks to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement and document security standards.
  • Apply and manage compliance frameworks, including hardening techniques and RHEL STIGs.
  • Apply RHEL patches on a monthly basis to maintain strong security posture.
  • Must be comfortable learning from and working with other administrators and coordinating with Cyber Security resources to ensure the security posture of the system.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience with RHEL
  • 3 years of experience with security control assessment
  • The role requires being on-site and on-call as needed

Additional Qualifications

  • Individuals will also be required to obtain CompTIA Security + Certification within six months of roll-on
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams as an independent contributor
  • Experience leading teams or projects
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Security Clearance

  • Must have active secret clearance with ability to pass SSBI
