Base pay range

$400,000.00/yr - $500,000.00/yr

Principal Consultant - Investment Management

An Operationally-focused Private Equity firm based out of Chicago with a strong track record of creating value for their investors and portfolio companies is strategically looking to add a Principal to their team. The firm specializes in middle-market investments across various industries within Industrials and Business Services and is committed to fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability. The team is dedicated to delivering exceptional results for their clients and driving positive change in the business world.


As the Principal, you will play a pivotal role in our investment strategy and execution. You will work closely with our senior leadership team, participating in the full spectrum of the private equity investment cycle. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our firm while contributing to the success of our portfolio companies.


Responsibilities:

  1. Lead due diligence efforts, financial analysis, and market research for potential investments.
  2. Develop investment theses, conduct financial modeling, and assess the operational potential of target companies.
  3. Work closely with portfolio companies to drive value creation, including strategic planning, performance improvement, and operational efficiency.
  4. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to refine the firm's investment strategy and evaluate new market opportunities.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, advisors, and other key stakeholders.
  6. Support fundraising efforts and interact with investors, presenting investment opportunities and results.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field; MBA required.
  2. A minimum of 6 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting.
  3. Strong financial modeling, due diligence, and valuation skills.
  4. Proven ability to lead and manage transactions from inception to closing.
  5. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  6. A strategic thinker with a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
  7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  8. Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
