This position requires a secret clearance and is 100% on-site at BBN Cambridge MA headquarters.
RTX BBN Technologies is looking for an outstanding candidate to start and lead a new Cyber/EW related research thrust. You are the ideal candidate if you are a recognized researcher with strong skills in cybersecurity, computer engineering/science, RF signal processing, machine learning, mathematics, modeling and simulation, and/or physics; you desire an opportunity to pursue external funding from government research agencies (e.g. DARPA, IARPA, DoD Service Labs) to help further U.S. National Security Objectives and the betterment of society; you know how to attract, hire, and develop top-notch talent to round out your team. This position is an opportunity to shine as a leader of an exceptional team while building technologies to support Cyber/EW operations; autonomy; cybersecurity; networking; RF systems; quantum computing and many other existing areas at BBN or new areas that you forge. The candidate will have the opportunity to take a leadership role within BBN’s Science Development Program.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build and advance a Cyber/EW-related research area for BBN having measurable impact on business.
- Articulate and execute a vision and tactical direction for BBN. Influence the same across RTX.
- Lead cross-functional teams performing business development, proposal preparation, and execution.
- Hire and develop top-notch personnel to round out the team you will grow and lead.
- Lead projects, as well as grow your team of collaborators and implementors.
- Distinguish BBN and yourself to customers by leading and performing cutting edge research.
- Candidates should expect that they may be required to travel to a BBN, RTX, teammate, or customer site for meetings or other business-related activities.
Qualifications You Must Have
- A Bachelor's degree in a related major and a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years experience.
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government security clearance is required prior to start date.

- Experience leading highly technical, R&D teams.
- Relevant publications at conferences and in journals.
- Experience writing government research funding proposals in the relevant areas.
- Excellent mentor and coach.
- Proficient in relevant programming languages and development tools to support the research’s software/hardware requirements.
- Working experience on classified government funded research programs.
- Ability to provide visionary technical leadership and desire to grow and lead a group to achieve that vision.
- Experience with reverse engineering, binary analysis and disassemblers.
- Experience with RF signal processing.
- Experience with OS internals (Windows, nix*).
- Experience with cyber-physical system vulnerability and cybersecurity research.
- Ability to represent BBN at conferences, workshops, and other external engagements.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

The salary range for this role is 137,000 USD - 275,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
