A Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Cloud job is available with our client in Scottsdale, AZ. In this role, you will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing a test program to verify system and subsystem requirements. To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field plus a minimum of 10 years of job-related experience. Due to the nature of the work performed in this facility, US citizenship is required.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Security knowledge: Familiarity with security best practices, risk, compliance & vulnerability management, encryption & PKI, incident response, auditing, and monitoring.
2. Cloud platforms: Experience with AWS (AWS Solutions Architect strongly preferred) and its services (including fundamental AWS networking); knowing Azure is a plus.
3. Programming and scripting: Proficiency and strong knowledge in languages such as Python, Linux/UNIX, YAML, and JSON.
4. Containerization: Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
5. Collaboration and communication: Ability to communicate and work effectively with development team members, operations, and security teams.
6. Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
7. Documentation: Well versed in generating documentation and sharing important knowledge.
8. Artificial Intelligence: Well versed in prompt engineering and utilizing popular AI tools to accelerate workload.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field plus a minimum of 10 years of job-related experience.
2. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time.
3. Python / Java programming languages.
4. Understanding of DevOps principles: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
5. Strong understanding of API Design, testing, development, and management.
6. CI/CD tools: Gitlab, Nexus Managed Artifacts.
7. AWS: AWS EKS, EC2, Lambda, S3, EBS/EFS, VPC, DNS, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.
8. Configuration management: Ansible, Terragrunt, ArgoCD.
9. Build/Development: VS Code, Maven.
10. Container orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker.
11. Security, Monitoring, and logging: ACAS/Grype vulns scanning, SIEM (Splunk), Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
12. Version control: Git.
13. Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
14. Collaboration: Jira, Confluence.
15. Event streaming platform (nice to have): Kafka messaging.
