The Head Groundskeeper manages and executes all pitch and landscaping operations related to our training ground.This full-time role is pivotal in ensuring our grounds are in optimal condition for play. The work schedule will reflect the team practices and events hosted at the facility and grounds. This position requires an irregular schedule and non-traditional hours.Responsibilities:Responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and preparation of all playing surfacesDevelop and implement an IPM programCalibrate and perform all applications of pesticides and fertilizers safelySafely operate all types of machines in turf maintenance, including but not limited to mowers, tractors, aerifiers, and sprayersPerform regular maintenance on equipmentLayout and paint soccer field lines utilizing Turf Tank program and equipmentMonitor irrigation and soil moisture levels and adjust accordinglyMaintain the irrigation system and complete minor repairsPerform field testing weekly and supply reports to the coaching staffSchedule the turf maintenance program to work around the schedule of the teamCommunicate with coaching staff weekly on the condition of the fields as well as any maintenance work that is scheduledEnsures all fields meet the highest standards for professional soccer, comply with NWSL regulations, prioritize player safety, and support optimal performance for playersDevelop and implement seasonal field management plans tailored to weather, usage, and field typeRequirements:3+ years of experience in a Groundskeeping role with sports turf-related experience at a professional levelExtensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processesWorking knowledge of the cultural practices required for Bermuda grass at a professional soccer levelAbility to operate power and hand tool equipment including but not limited to lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipmentMust have a current California pesticide license or obtain one in six monthsSelf-motivated and works independently with minimal supervisionStrong troubleshooting skillsAbility to communicate clearly in both writing and verballyExcellent time management skillsAbility to layout and paint soccer field linesMust be able to work in a variety of weather conditionsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidaysAbility to work with prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneelingThe ability to lift 25 lbs. to 80 lbs.
