Job DescriptionThe Washington Post is searching for a visionary Director of Global Acquisition Marketing to lead our global efforts in subscriber acquisition. Reporting directly to the Head of Subscriptions, you will oversee a team of managers and specialists dedicated to driving substantial growth in our subscriber base. Your role will span across all facets of digital marketing, including onsite growth and optimization, media strategy and execution, CRM planning, media attribution, conversion rate optimization, and team leadership.
You bring a proven track record of translating performance data and business objectives into a clear, actionable strategic roadmap. With a deep passion for performance marketing, you excel in nurturing high-performing teams and are a champion of cross-functional collaboration. Your role will involve close collaboration with the Newsroom, Product, Analytics, Finance, and Brand Marketing teams to achieve ambitious subscription goals. Responsibilities- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive strategies to enhance brand awareness, increase customer consideration, and drive global subscriber acquisition, ensuring alignment with performance metrics and exceeding budget targets..
- Manage acquisition forecasts and achieve set budgets for registrations, starts, terminations, and revenue, leveraging data insights to optimize growth efforts.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to develop and own a robust testing roadmap aimed at optimizing acquisition growth and customer engagement.
- Direct the management of biddable media campaigns and ad accounts across multiple platforms, ensuring maximum ROI and efficient budget allocation.
- Refine A/B testing strategies to continuously optimize messaging, channel selection, and offer personalization, driving higher conversion rates.
- Partner with Product teams on enhancing registration products, dynamic wall strategies, and global pricing initiatives to support strategic goals and customer engagement.
- Oversee marketing processes, timelines, and creative development, ensuring all campaigns adhere to governance standards and deliver on strategic objectives.
- Execute strategic acquisitions, informed by analysis, ensuring alignment with performance metrics and exceeding targets.
- Lead the launch of digital marketing campaigns across various channels (email, app, onsite), in collaboration with editorial and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a team of 8+ performance marketing managers and specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and regular feedback to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications- Master's degree or 8+ years of hands-on experience in performance marketing, with a deep understanding of B2C/DTC marketing channels and funnels, including at least 5 years of people management experience.
- Preference for experience in promoting products within a recurring revenue or subscription business model, with a track record of success in this area.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting, leading, and retaining high-performing teams, with a focus on nurturing talent and fostering a culture of innovation..
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, aligning marketing strategies with broader business objectives, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills and quantitative capabilities, utilizing data-driven decision-making to optimize marketing efforts, achieve subscription targets, and challenge assumptions through research and performance metrics.
- Exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and strategic focus in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with the ability to pivot strategies in response to changing conditions.
- Embrace an entrepreneurial and mission-driven mindset, ensuring the successful navigation of dynamic business landscapes.
- Desirable hands-on experience in in-housing media functions, with the ability to lead teams in both strategic and tactical aspects of campaign execution.

The salary range for this position is:
130,300.00 - 242,100.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
