Position Summary This position requires a dependable and efficient CDL truck driver. Must be organized, detailed oriented, and comfortable working independently. A clean driving record and commercial driving experience is a must.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle
- Pick up and safely transport goods to intended destination
- Ensure contents are properly secured in truck/flatbed to prevent damage/injury
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries
- Assist in mapping driving routes
- Stay on predetermined route to ensure timely transport and delivery
- Communicate with dispatch as needed
- Confirm that the contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
- Track and report working hours
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
- Make safety a priority at all times
- Alert, focused, and detailed-oriented
- Physically and mentally fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
Education/Training - High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL); class B required
- 2 + years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred
- Clean driving record with no moving violation
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
Qualification/Requirement - Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
- This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
- All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening, physical test, and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
- Valid State of Hawaii drivers' license in good standing, class B required
- Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
- Must be flexible in work hours
