Position Title: Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (NACE III) Reports To: Quality Systems ManagernnPosition Summary: The National Association of Coatings Engineer (NACE) Level III ensures effective development, implementation, and operation of the Coatings Inspection Program.nnPacific Shipyards International, LLC Expectations of Employee:nnIs committed to the company values and adheres to all Pacific Shipyards policies and procedures.nPerform duties of his/her job and as assigned by ManagementnMaintain a positive and respectful attitude and conduct her/himself with integrity and in a polite, professional manner treating customers and co-workers courteously and respectfullynCommunicates regularly with Officers, Managers, and Supervisors about the different divisions and departments issuesnConsistently be on time for work, meetings and appointments and deliver work projects by assigned due dates.nMaintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashionnMaintain and ensure the safety of all assigned equipmentnPerform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standardsnMeet productivity goals and quality standards as set by managementnAbility to read and understand drawings and specificationsnAbility to handle multiple tasks and balance prioritiesnComputer proficiency in Microsoft OfficennEssential Duties and Responsibilities:nnResponsible for the Coating Inspection Program and shall be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications.nProvide training and tutelage to NBPI, NACE Level I and II personnel as needed.nHighly skilled and experienced in corrosion, surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions, test instruments, coating mixtures, and safety.nPerform unsupervised non-destructive and destructive inspections of liquid and non-liquid coatings applied to any substrate.nApply technical knowledge, problem solving ability regarding issues that may arise on site.nAssist in development and/or modification of specifications and procedures to the extent that they conform to existing or improved quality levels.nEnsure compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and purchase order requirements.nAssist with technical customer support including leading support for customer audits.nOversee review of technical documents for customer orders and supplier purchase orders.nGenerate technical reports as necessary.nWork with production to establish and sustain a process of continuous quality improvement.nEnsure that employees are trained on applicable procedures, regulations, and standards.nReview drawing/document changes for compliance with applicable regulations and standardsnAssist with any other tasks as needed.nnEducation/Training Requirements:nnFive (5) years of experience to include a minimum of three (3) years in a NACE Level III role and a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory and/or management experience Knowledge of the marine industry and NAVSEA standardsnNACE Level III Certification or equivalent requirednNondestructive Testing (NDT) experience preferrednExtensive knowledge of ship repair processes.nnWorking Conditions/Job Environment: This position requires working outside in the elements with the following characteristics:nnWork in extreme temperature (heat and cold) for extended periods exceeding one hournSafely move about on slippery, sloping, uneven and unstable surfacesnPerform work in heavy industrial/shipyard setting with exposure to heat, cold, and humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gasses, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, and vibration, and involves climbing ladders and stairs, using pneumatic tools, working in cramped quarters, and working with moving machinerynPersonal Pro ective Equipment (PPE) required for this position, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety boots, face shield, welding helmet, welding gloves, welding sleeves/jacket (leather or cloth), and welding apron/chaps. A respirator may also be requirednnQualification/Requirement:nnMust have a participative management style.nMust be able to demonstrate good leadership skills.nMust be able to work well with all levels of management.nMust have good written, verbal, and listening communication skills.nMust have a broad knowledge of test and inspection methods, procedures and equipment.nMust show proof of your legal right to work in the United StatesnThis position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base accessnMust be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)nMust be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sitesnAll candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins.
