We are an acute care facility with 25 beds, providing a wide range of medical, surgical, and pediatric care.nSTATUS: Full TimenLOCATION: Massena HospitalnDEPARTMENT: Medical Surgical UnitnSCHEDULE: 8 Hour Night ShiftsnATTRIBUTESnnHigh school graduate or equivalent.nPrevious hospital experience is an asset.nCPR and competency skills annually.nBCLS is an asset.nCertified Geriatric or Nursing Assistant Certificate preferrednnRESPONSIBILITIESnnPerforms various duties necessary to provide complete care, comfort care, and safety for assigned patients. Such duties include:nBathing: bed bath, shower, tub, sitz and shaving;nOral Hygiene: cleaning of dentures, brushing of teeth;nHair: combing, shampooing as necessary;nNails: trimming and cleaning (excluding Diabetics and Peripheral Vascular Disease patients);nElimination: bedpan, urinal, commode, and changes incontinent patients as needed, gives back rub; Assists patient in and out of bed;nAssist patient with dressing and undressing;nChanges position of patients as directed by the nurse;nKeeps patient's environment neat, clean and safenPerforms and records routine tasks, such as:nGives soap suds, fleets, fleets oil retention, tap water saline enemas;nCollects specimens: urinary, stool, sputum as directed by the nurse.nMeasures and records oral intake on Intake & Output Work sheet;nMeasures urinary, gastric drainage and records on Intake & Output Worksheet;nTakes and records temperature, pulse and respiration - blood pressure;nWeighs assigned patients;nApplies ice collar, ice bags as directed by the nurse;nAssists patients with passive or active exercises as directed by nurse;nApplies elastic stockings as orderednAssists and/or feeds patients as needed. Distributes nourishments and fresh water to patients.nResponds to patients call lights promptly and graciously to determine patients needs and communicates required needs to appropriate personnel.nnPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.nPAY RANGE: $15.86 - $20.34nThe listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
