Job Description
Arcadis Building Structural Group is looking for a licensed senior structural engineer (Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec) to join our Montreal team. You will be engaged in structural design and construction administration works of major industrial projects in Montreal area. The successful candidate needs to have strong structural engineering design experience, thorough knowledge of structural details, effective time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English. The candidate’s previous experience working on major industrial projects will be an asset.
In Engineering, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate structural design and construction with other disciplines.
- Work at project design office in person on daily basis, liaise with clients and external stakeholders directly.
- Carry out structural modeling, analysis, and design. Prepare and review structural reports and drawings.
- Work closely with BIM staff to prepare drawings.
- Review construction submittals, constructability and staging drawings, construction schedule and cost estimate.
- Coordinate engineering and commercial items with the construction team.
- Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance to structural drawings and contract documents. Identify possible construction structural deficiencies, provide remedial options.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on industrial projects.
- Fluency in French and English (written and oral); able to prepare reports and correspondence independently.
- Proven experience with complete design of projects including analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for complex industrial projects.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes including NBCC, Quebec Construction Code and CSA standards.
- Proficient in structural analysis software including SAP, ETABS, SAFE, RAM-Structural, S-Concrete, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Acrobat/Bluebeam.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare reports and correspondence independently.
- A valid driver's license and able to travel to project site to conduct site review.
- Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External.
