The opportunity EY’s Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice is a consulting unit that provides risk management support to banks, insurers and asset managers. Our team includes individuals who have industry, client and product knowledge as well as quantitative, regulatory, project management and technology professionals.
We are seeking several ESG/Climate Risk Modelling Senior Consultants with a minimum 3 years experience in ESG Frameworks / Climate Risk Modelling , Credit Risk Modelling experience acquired in the banking industry or in consulting services to join our team. They will be based in our Montreal (must be able to work in French and English) or Toronto office.
Your key responsibilities As an ESG/Climate Risk Modelling Senior Consultant you will provide subject matter expertise on climate risk in the context of risk modelling and measurement, stress testing, risk management, strategy, and regulatory expectations.
Developing materials, tools and methodologies to support our climate risk thought leadership for use in client engagements, conferences and meetings.
Work across and be the day-to-day lead on multiple engagements, delivering high quality climate risk support to our banking clients, including managing the delivery team.
Assist our financial-sector clients in ensuring compliance with ESG regulatory requirements, model development for physical / transition risk, establishing robust governance and operation models, implementing ESG data strategies, financed emission calculations, and portfolio decarbonization techniques.
Participate in the EY educational program to continually enhance abilities, as well as to create and maintain fruitful client relationships.
Maintain a detailed knowledge of climate risk regulations and an awareness of broader banking regulations, market trends, competitor activities and product/services.
Ability to travel on short notice to serve Canadian clients (travel is expected to be less than 20%).
Skills and attributes for success Strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics.
Ability to maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships.
Own and implement business development initiatives around climate risk.
To qualify for the role you must have Strong academic background: Graduate-level University degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar field is required.
3-5 years’ financial risk management / analytics experience with Financial Institutions or Consulting firms.
Thorough understanding of risk concepts such as Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), capital management, stress testing, ICAAP.
Certificate in ESG, Climate risk, SCR, FRM, CFA, designation would be an asset.
Experience in ESG frameworks or Climate Risk frameworks in the financial institutions industry or in consulting services.
Excellent quantitative analytical skills and comfortable working large datasets; able to perform de-trending and key data trigger point analysis (Python, R, SAS, SQL).
Knowledge of climate-related physical and transition risks and the transmission channels through which these can manifest as a risk for financial institutions.
A good understanding of IPCC assessments of Representative Concentration Pathways (RPCs).
Experience in financial analysis or economic analysis in the context of climate change. Experience in climate scenario analysis and/or climate risk assessment.
Ideally, you’ll also have Self-starting attitude, Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to lead and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service by strong interpersonal relationship, agility, and resourcefulness.
