Job Description
AECOM Mississauga is currently seeking an Interface Manager with experience in railway or similar complex projects, to join our Transit and Rail Team in Ontario and work with a multidisciplinary team delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.
Job Summary: The Interface Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all interface aspects between different stakeholders involved in a railway extension project, specifically focusing on the design of stations, facilities, and emergency egresses.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage communication between all project stakeholders, including internal teams, external contractors, and governmental bodies.
Ensure seamless integration of design elements into the overall project, maintaining consistency and quality.
Oversee and manage the resolution of design conflicts between different elements of the project.
Conduct regular meetings to ensure all parties are aligned with project goals and timelines.
Manage and report on the progress of the design aspects, identifying and mitigating risks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in railway infrastructure and station design.
Facilitate the smooth transition of design phases into construction and operation stages.
Interface with the Systems Designer to identify, assign and manage all interface points between Systems-Civil scopes.
Conduct and collaborate in gap analyses to ensure the solution presented covers the requirement and that the appropriate information is interchanged between parties as well as follows up the interfaces until their agreement.
Prepare, update, maintain, and manage the interface management plan and interface register.
Generate, manage, and update interface control documents addressing interfaces with all stakeholders and interfacing parties.
Maintain an up-to-date list of interface issues, with proposed mitigations.
Report to Senior-level managers and work under minimal supervision.
Work on or provide specific input to systems engineering management tools for successful interface management.
Review third party interface points and develop interface control documents and responsibility matrices.
Manage external interface and integration requirements and ensure compatibility at system level, as well as traceability to requirements.
Provide input to the Hazard Log, Safety Log, Risk Register and maintain and manage resolution and mitigation of high-risk interface issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience working on railway or similar projects in interface management of large scale projects.
Driving License
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
At least 10 years of experience working on Metro or Tram Systems.
Professional Engineering Certificate in Ontario.
5+ years design experience on projects and their design lifecycles.
Proven experience in interface management or a similar role in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the railway sector.
Strong understanding of railway systems, station design, and construction processes.
Familiar with the principles of following ISO 15288 Systems Engineering Life Cycle processes & Requirements management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in interface management software and tools.
Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including V&V, Systems Architecture, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, and Interface Managements.
Able to work with minimum supervision and to manage a team of mid-level or junior engineers and/or third-party engineering contractors.
