Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Systems Project Manager with specialized skills in Transportation Systems, to join our multidisciplinary Western Canada Systems Engineering team and work on delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead project pursuits and prepare proposals.
Participate in business development by establishing long lasting relationships with clients during project execution and attracting new clients.
Plan and manage each stage of a project to ensure that all contractual commitments are met on time and within budget.
Identify the necessary resources required for the execution of Systems projects in the Transit sector from inception to completion.
Develop project scope, identify deliverables, and prepare work plans, schedules and budgets for all project stages while performing monitoring and control for the duration of the project.
Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management with the goal of producing functionally and financially viable projects that will be completed on time within the authorized budget and to the required quality.
Lead project controls staff, project coordinators, as well as overall project team by interfacing with sub-discipline leads.
Lead and attend regular coordination meetings internal to the project team as well as client facing meetings.
Maintain a good understanding of the project scope in order to identify scope creep and initiate the change management process.
When scope changes occur, negotiate solutions to ensure outcomes meet client expectations and contractual obligations.
Ensure timely internal and external communication throughout all project phases, develop and maintain meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
Comply with the AECOM Quality Management System methodology and project management process.
Participate in monthly project reviews to review project status, budget, work plan, schedule and risks.
Conduct progress meetings to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns with various key stakeholders.
Ensure that all project close-out documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion of the project.
Act as a mentor to junior project management and controls professionals.
Enroll and obtain the MAP (Managing AECOM Projects) Certification.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree + 6 years of relevant experience in delivery of Systems for rail and transit projects.
Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
8 years or more of relevant experience in public rail and transit.
Professional Engineer designation.
PMP certification.
Known to public transit clients in BC and Alberta (i.e. TransLink, BCRTC, TI Corp, MoTI, City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, and others).
Strong technical knowledge and experience for at least one of the following sub-disciplines and familiarity with the other two:
Communication Systems (i.e. fibre backbone network, telephony, radio, public address, passenger information digital displays, CCTV, intrusion and access control, SCADA, data and media storage, WLAN, cellular, video wall, and others).
Power Supply & Distribution (i.e. traction power, OCS, backup power, Blue Light System, outdoor lighting, stinger systems, and others).
Signalling & Train Control (CBTC, ATC, ATO, ATP, PTC, fixed block, level-crossings, OCC workstations and software, interface to OCC video wall, and others).
Experience in Stage of Good Repair projects.
Experience in LRV Systems, including technical reviews, vehicle integration and testing & commissioning.
Proven experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities.
Knowledge of O&M environments within transit authorities.
Experience in bus projects with a Systems element.
Familiar with other design disciplines typically requiring coordination with Systems design such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical.
Familiar with non-technical disciplines typically requiring support from Systems team within projects such as Project Management, Requirements Management, Verification & Validation, RAM, Safety Assurance, Quality Management, and others.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Excellent communication, organizational and team skills.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
Able to multitask due to concurrent projects.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $101k – $160k.
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
