Hamlin Air Conditioning & Sheet Metal Inc. was originally founded in 1964, and has become one of central Georgia's leading HVAC system and service contractors. Our industry-leading team offers full in-house fabrication, welding, and construction of custom commercial HVAC systems. We also house a sheet metal shop with advanced machinery and tools, and a service & controls department committed to providing long-term care and results for all your HVAC needs. Based out of Macon, GA and reporting to the Controls Manager, the Controls Installer will install components for building automation systems. Seeking a diligent and self-driven worker with attention to detail. Needs to be teachable with a prosperity to learn and open to constructive criticism.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install HVAC and building automation controls on new construction, remodeled, and service locations.
  • Install communication and control wire possibly in obscure locations which may include above ceiling grid, through interior and exterior walls, in tight crawl spaces, or in high places.
  • Install control devices in sometimes hard to reach locations.
  • Install controllers and terminate wires for sensors and actuators using a wiring diagram.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
Required Education/Experience:
Minimum of one-year technical certificate in HVAC or equivalent from an accredited institution or 2 years of experience in an HVAC related field, preferred.
Competencies:
  • Possess an aptitude for electrical wiring and reading and interpreting wiring diagrams.
  • Possess aptitude to read and interpret plans and specifications for a project.
  • Able to bend conduit to fit an application.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at moderate heights (mostly between 20 and 30 feet).
  • Must be capable of lifting equipment up to 75 pounds for a distance.
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to use a multi-meter.
  • Possess desire and aptitude to eventually lead a crew.
  • Possess basic set of tools (screwdriver, drill, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license and able to drive a company vehicle when necessary (must be 21 years of age or older).
  • Must pass a drug screening test.

Physical Ability
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other plumbing equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily alone and travels to different work sites each day. May work in tight spaces, typically indoors, but may work outside in poor weather conditions. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
