Duties include:nnTroubleshoot, repair, and replace various electronic equipment and components of the Access Control SystemnnVerify integrity of wires/cables using electronic test metersnnTrace out and repair wire/cable problemsnnReplace card swipes, security cameras, and actuating solenoidsnnRefer additional problems to supervisor for appropriate actionnnInstall access control systems on various doors; run wires/cables through walls, door frames, wire molding; cut doors and frames to fit new hardware including electric strikes, panic devices, door magnets, request to exit switches, PIRs, etc.nnMaintain access control components such as modules, power supplies, battery backups, cables, etc.nnUpdate design drawings or work orders to reflect minor changes and proper circuit assignments; store in central repositorynnRead and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, hardware schedules, key schedules, service manuals, etc.nnPerform site surveys, using design drawings, or work orders, to verify installation or maintenance needsnnPerform maintenance, repair, and replacement of mechanical elements related to doors to include but not limited to lock cores, door closers, hinges, doorknobs, crash bars, door frames, etc.nnPerform a variety of routine carpentry work such as adjusting and rehanging doors and repairing door frames and damaged doorsnnTroubleshoot all reports of doors not closing or opening properlynnPerform preventative maintenance on all exterior doorsnnMake repairs as necessarynnEnsure that handicapped-accessible doors are functioning properly; make adjustments as requirednnMaintain security of door and security system at all timesnnCommunicate with University Police, Maintenance and Operations, and Information Technology regarding maintenance issues related to electronic and mechanical door systemsnnRespond to on-duty emergency calls and make repairs as necessarynnBe first response for mechanical and electrical callsnnReport facility and building issues to appropriate personnelnnLog actions when applicable to ensure complete and accurate documentationnnMaintain a supply of regularly used equipmentnnRequest additional parts and components to replenish inventory, as necessarynnOrganize equipment and maintain inventory recordsnnMake recommendations to supervisor when new equipment may be needednnOccasionally train and direct the work of other employees, as necessarynnUse various tools such as sander, grinder, router, metal grinder, jointer, planer, table saw, electric drill, ladders, scaffolding, and various other hand tools for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairnnOperate University vehiclennJob Requirements: Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of adjustable measuring instruments and the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation.
